Wireless Power Transmission
Wireless power has been “just around the corner” since Nikola Tesla demonstrated the idea in the late 1800s. Now researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Florida could bring wireless power to the masses in this decade.
Usefulness
A typical road warrior might travel with a laptop, cell phone, PDA, MP3 player, digital camera, etc. Each electronic device requires its own power adapter. Each adapter brings extra weight, extra fuss.
But with a wireless power system, you drop the devices on a power pad and let them sit overnight. In the morning everything is charged. No chargers, no fuss.
