Lenovo, Toshiba Join Battery Recalls
Following major battery recalls from Dell and Apple in August, computer makers Lenovo and Toshiba have now announced their own recalls. Like both the Dell and Apple recalls, the affected batteries were manufactured by Sony and in rare cases may catch fire.
Toshiba has added that they do not believe their batteries pose a safety risk, but nevertheless are initiating a recall to alleviate customer concerns.
Lenovo is recalling approximately 526,000 batteries from certain ThinkPad notebooks manufactured between February 2005 and September 2006. To read more about this recall, and to check if your notebook is affected, visit Lenovo’s support page.
Toshiba will recall 830,000 batteries, but has yet to announce specifics regarding which notebooks are affected. The company plans to post such information to its support Web site when available.
