Dell Issues Battery Recall
Dell on Tuesday issued a recall of 4.1 million batteries used in some of their notebook computers shipped between April 2004 and July 18, 2006. Just about all Latitude, Inspiron, and XPS models may have shipped with the defective batteries. It is possible that the batteries may overheat and catch fire.
If you have a Dell notebook, you can visit dellbatteryprogram.com to check if your battery is among the recalled models. Click on the “Identify Recalled Battery” button and enter the part identification number on the battery label as instructed. If your battery is at risk, you’ll automatically be directed to an order form where you can request your free replacement.
If your battery is defective, remove it from the notebook and use only AC power until the replacement arrives.
