Save Windows XP

February 8, 2008 | By Raymond T. Hightower

PC users in-the-know are aware of the pitfalls of Microsoft Windows Vista. Microsoft plans to halt the sale of Vista’s predecessor, Windows XP, on June 30, 2008. InfoWorld is gathering signatures on a petition to delay the demise of XP.

Newer, Not Better
Wisdom’s concerns with Windows Vista are outlined in the 4Q2006 issue of The Wisdom Report. Our concerns fall into two categories.

  • Performance. Operations on Vista are slow.
  • Compatibility. Software written for XP may or may not work on Vista. And many vendors have yet to re-code their software for the newer operating system.

    The Petition
The InfoWorld Petition may or may not help. Microsoft is certainly aware of the petition. The question: Does the company consider petition signers when creating product roadmaps?

    Time will tell.
