One Laptop Per Child - Dealing With Competition

When Nicholas Negroponte unveiled the 100 dollar laptop in 2005, many industry leaders ridiculed the machine. Now, those same leaders (including Microsoft and Intel) are fighting to compete in the market created by the device.

I think it’s great to have industry powerhouses competing to do good in the developing world. The Microsoft/Intel Classmate PC will benefit Those of us in the western world enjoy luxuries largely because we inherited them. Yes, many of us work hard. But hard work only pays off if you’re born in a place that values your particular gifts and skill set. No person has any control over the nation of his or her birth. We must help each other.
