The September 2007 issue of Conde Nast Portfolio describes new projection technology that could put a presentation-quality projector in your cell phone.
Microvision is the Redmond, WA based company that has been developing the technology for the last thirteen years. After a recent breakthrough, they reportedly reached an agreement with Motorola to include the device in next-generation cell phones.
New Technology… Now What?
Several questions come to mind as a result of this report:
- How will this affect the LCD projector market?
- How will this affect the flat-screen television market?
- What new applications will come about as a result of this new device?
We’ve got some time to think & brainstorm. Microvision expects to release an iPhone-sized projector by December 2008. Projector-equipped cell phones are expected to follow one year after that.
