A Mac user returned to her apartment to find that she had been burglarized. Police investigators came up empty handed. Then the burglary victim used the remote access feature on her stolen Mac to snap pictures of the thief while he was using the stolen product.
One of the stolen laptops belongs to an Apple employee who knows her machine well. When the police turned up dry, she logged onto another Mac and used a remote access feature called Back to My Mac to snap photos of the theives while they were using the stolen machine.
The theft and recovery occurred in White Plains, NY. “It doesn’t get much better than their bringing us a picture of the guy actually using the stolen property,” said a White Plains public safety official.
A detailed account is given in the New York Times.
