"The leaders of Ghana had made breathtakingly bad decisions” that’s a powerful indictment. Ironically, Africa at least has a history of colonialism, systemic exploitation and lack of control over resources to explain the dearth of leadership. African leadership is simply following the historical example of European rule. What is America’s excuse? Africa doesn’t have a monopoly on an educated population with a sense of entitlement rather than a sense of responsibility. We’d do well to emulate this young man’s idealism and sense of purpose in modern day America. In his vision of the great society for his people, he holds and has implemented the best of American principles while we seem to have never known them, or worse yet, forgotten them. In learning the “American way”, Africa may save America.
