Best Buy, the consumer electronics powerhouse, is now giving complete catalog access to software developers. Their new API offering, called “Remix”, may sound risky. But Best Buy could win in a huge way.
API Defined
An application programming interface (API) is a set of rules that defines how programs communicate with each other. A developer who understands the Best Buy API can use that information to write programs that directly access Best Buy’s catalog.
The Name is Remix
Best Buy is calling their API “Remix”. Members of the Remix Developer Network gain access to API documentation and a forum where they can share ideas with other developers.

I have never seen a retailer provide this level of access before! What new apps will be created with this shared information?
